This Week's Issue: The Recovery Paradox

The old joke among economists is that a recession is when your neighbor loses his job, but a depression is when you lose yours. In the 1980 presidential campaign, Ronald Reagan made the line political by adding, "A recovery is when Jimmy Carter loses his." This year, quite a few Republicans are substituting President Obama's name for Carter's. But the real question...

Ikaika Arnado  -  Should advertisers be required to disclose if make up was used as well?

It's safe to say all pictures used in advertising are edited. It makes no sense to make a law stating they are.

Also, advertising isn't journalism it's a fantasy world, whether it is digitally edited or not...should an advertiser also be required to disclose every scene shot was a fabricated situation?

The hard truth is that cloths look better on skinny women. The slim physic wouldn't rule the catwalk if that wasn't the case.

Never the less, the advertisers are just a scape goat. The really problem is deterioating family values, education, and materialism.

Instead of discouraging advertisers the government should start empowering the youth, reenforce self esteem, teach the psychology and goals behind advertisers, and encourage social interaction.

This law is an infringement on freedom of speech and a form of finger pointing that takes no proactive step to combat the real problem.

It's foolish to think inhibitting advertisers is going to solve a neurological disorder.

Joe Carpenter  -  Santorum is ruining the GOP: My response. The spoilers this is the problem with the republican party, this selfish, arrogant, inability to team up and work together, its like the old stereotypes of the European male mind set of Aristocracy and hypocrisy, where dominance, competition, power and control are the driving motives. Its an attitude of, where they are willing to wreck it for others, if they do not get their way, just to make the ego centric point. Its white mans deaseas. Stupid white men. Its like White men don't bond they fight. Its also a lawyer leverage thing of over reaching chicken at the expense of the game or the goals of others or the greater good, because they are being rewarded, paid and are in the game. Its so pathetic. Its blind ambition. Its gold feaver. Its greed for the lime lite. Its all so wrong. Go ahead just destroy the republican party and loose the election and pray we don't lose our country. Its so perfect big money, big egos, big mistakes, a big pissing contest, big morons. Now Ron Paul once again is clearly standing on principle and using this election to make his point of restructuring the financial institutions of this country. Ron Paul is not being a spoiler like Santuram. He is being a patriot and a team player. Gingrich is just proving he will never be president and is not capable of accepting his role in history as an idea man, again a needed team player, a washington insider that plays the game and an influential influence but not a the real leader we need at this time in history. He does not have the judgement to bow out for the good of the nation there fore he is does not have the judgement to run the nation for its best interests. They all are ego driven to point of blindness that will hurt the country again as everyone wants anyone but Obama but not an other disconnected Republican old boys club dictator of international crony capitalism.

Like the author, I prefer e-ink for reading both in bright sunlight, and for long reading periods.

My only complaint about the K3 (now the kindle keyboard) is that we do password-protect our kindles (as I would any device that provides 1-click purchasing), and on the K3, the paint is wearing off the keys used most often, making it fairly easy to guess which letters are used in the password.

Finally, I don't really like "joystick" based text entry, which is used by the base model kindle for all text entry, and the kindle keyboard for numbers and punctuation. So for me, the Touch is the model of choice.
